Oliver Tiura A.O.C.A., M.F.A., is a senior Canadian artist of Finnish origin having had more than 70 exhibitions of his work internationally in France, Italy, Switzerland, Mexico, the US, and with numbers of exhibitions in Canada.
He has two main currents of interest, that of unique bronze castings seen here, as well as a long term interest in the creation of two-dimensional works in encaustic media, hot wax.
He considers himself a modernist sculptor extending the streams of the interests of great classical sculptors such as Giacometti and Moore. His continuing “Anima” series of unique bronzes, result in multi directional works, each having the ability to be reflected upon from a number of truly, dimensionally changeable, sight lines. Both feminine and masculine linear essences combine to create elegant, visual musical like forms.
A writer in the French newspaper Nice-Matin once wrote of the spacial qualities of Tiura's sculptural work: "His sculptures use space both as a secure base and as a point of departure. They rear up, gyrate, project themselves forward, draw back, entrap space, dominate it, form an amalgam of lines and curves, of hollows and projections so powerful that they appear to be alive...."
Oliver is also an inventor with patents and concepts for many unique consumer product ideas some patented, some in development [i.e. coolrackets.com]. Please note that this website will be under continuing development with new additions of visual materials as the time passes.
